Legislative Diploma No.1701 Combate Filaria

In response to Starred Question No. 568, raised on 5 July 1995, the then Law Minister, Shri Dominic Fernandes, informed the House that as many as 43 Portuguese enactments continued to remain in force in the State of Goa. The details of these enactments were provided in Annexure I appended to the said reply. It was further stated that several of these enactments had already been translated into English, as reflected in Annexure II.

Portaria No. 7012 dated 17 September 1957 is listed at Serial No. 37 in Annexure-I and Serial No.16 in Annexure-II. However, on examining the Goa Public Health Rules, 1987, published in the Official Gazette, Series I, No. 22, dated 27 August 1987, and brought into force with immediate effect, it has been observed that “Legislative Diploma No.1701 Combate Filaria” was repealed under Rule 24 of the said Public Health Rules.

The relevant provision reads as follows:

24. Repeal and Saving.— (1) Portaria 7012 dated 17-9-1957 and Diploma Legislativo 1701 dated 11-4-1957 are hereby repealed.

In view of the above legal position, the said “Legislative Diploma No.1701 Combate Filaria” and its English translation are not required to be published.
